Anthony Powell, Businessman, and On-Air Broadcast Talent

When it comes to work and life experiences, you might say Anthony Powell has been a jack of many trades, and hopefully, a master of some.

From news anchoring and reporting, hosting, spokesperson and acting roles, to voicing commercials, videos, documentaries, to owning businesses away from the mic and camera, Anthony has experienced it all! He also speaks about his varied life experiences, in a presentation entitled: “From Malibu to Wichita, Lessons, and Experiences Along the Way.”

Anthony was born with showbiz in his blood. His father Richard, wrote for some of America’s most famous shows including Hogan’s Heroes, The Andy Griffith Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Happy Days, and others! Anthony also went to school with people such as Rob Lowe, Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, and Emilio Estevez.

Sports and politics were important parts of Anthony’s childhood household, so he always wanted to be a news or sportscaster. He received his degree in Broadcast Journalism from Cal State Northridge and worked in the campus TV and radio stations. After college, Anthony tried his hand at acting, landing parts in General Hospital, Matlock, The Dating Game, and some commercials. He also hosted two talk shows and worked on several cable news broadcasts as an anchor, reporter, and host.

In the early nineties, Anthony embarked on a nearly 20-year TV news career as an anchor, reporter, and host in: Savannah, Georgia; Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kansas City, Missouri, and at KSN-TV in Wichita.

After leaving TV news, Anthony and his wife Jennifer bought a business, called The Cleaning Authority, which she runs. Anthony also tried his hand at restaurants, owning MOOYAH Burgers. Since leaving KSN though, Anthony has spent most of his time working on his voice-over and on-camera business. He can currently be seen doing work for Cox Communications and KPTS.

Anthony also has a clothing line called Inner City Peace, a brand which helps call attention to the needs and issues facing inner-city residents in America.
